The Latest Advancements in Eyeglass Lenses

It seems like every day there is something new and innovative that comes on the market to help make day-to-day life easier.  The same goes for eyeglasses; life is changing at a rapid pace, it’s only natural that eyeglass lenses do the same.
Gone are the days where eyeglass lenses were made of only glass.  They have changed to become scratch resistant, lighter, made out of plastic (less likely to break), and of course, more fashionable.  A few advancements that have occurred in the market today are transition lenses, kids UV lenses, DriveSafe lenses, and “InTouch” progressive lenses.

Transition Lenses

The perfect blend of convenience and function, these lenses darken when exposed to UV light.  These lenses are ideal for those who need to constantly be wearing glasses but frequent the outdoors.  They are also great for those who need to wear glasses while driving but the glare and brightness outside require sunglasses.  Transition Lenses are cost efficient, in the way that they combine both regular prescription glasses with prescription sunglasses.

Kids UV Lenses

Children need protection as well.  It is no secret that getting some children to keep glasses on is a task in itself, but to ask them to change from normal glasses to sunglasses, and to not lose or break either pair, just seems silly to any parent.  With UV, lenses the harmful UV rays are blocked out to some degree to help protect their developing eyes from UV exposure.  These lenses protect the eyes and offer 25 times more protection from the rays compared to an exposed eye.
These lenses not only protect from the sun, but they also help with the glare from light from the computer screen, or the fluorescent lights in the classroom.  The protection from the light helps with preventing eye fatigue and headaches.

DriveSafe Lenses

Driving at night or in the rain is difficult enough for a person with 20/20 vision.  When the glare of oncoming headlights hits it can be difficult for anyone, but when in glasses the glare can hurt and cause everything to go blurry- making signs and pedestrians hard to see.  DriveSafe Lenses are a high-performance lens that has an anti-glare coating to help with poor driving conditions.
These lenses can be worn all day to help with the glare of screens and fluorescent lighting as well.  They make the image sharper and clearer, especially when a bright glare is present.

InTouch Progressive Lenses

Technologies such as smartphones, tablets, and even the computers we work at have all become part of daily life.  Using these devices daily can strain your eyes due to the proximity needed to read from the smaller screens, especially when it comes to using handheld devices. The glare that the screen causes forces the user to hold the device closer than normal.

InTouch lenses improve close-up vision, reducing glare and aiding the eye when reading, watching TV, or using digital devices.
